Information & Simulation Systems (InforSim) was originally started as a small engineering consulting company in 1983 to meet the specific needs of larger companies lacking applied ocean science and ocean-related expertise. Today, we have evolved into an advanced technology company providing services to a wide range of commercial, government, and research organizations. Projects have ranged from hydrodynamic design and dynamic simulations of submersibles, torpedoes, buoys and moorings, to environmental impacts of pollutants from coastal ocean discharge sites, to migratory processes and population dynamics of large predator fish and marine mammals.

The company specializes in the development and application of sophisticated computational models and the delivery of custom software programs. As required to meet specific project needs, InforSim has often used advanced operations research techniques including dynamic programming, linear and nonlinear programming, Bayesian networks, optimal control, and applied probability theory. For example, we recently developed a specialized nonlinear programming algorithm to optimize the design and operation of offshore aquaculture farms. Another recent Monte Carlo model incorporates a Bayesian network to predict the migration patterns of marine animal populations based on electronic tagging data.

InforSim provides the required expertise needed to perform on a range of advanced, multi-faceted technology programs, whether using our in-house personnel exclusively or selecting the most qualified outside experts to support our team. We have applied our background in system engineering gained from an early involvement on large aerospace programs to organize our team’s efforts and to focus on satisfying customer objectives.
