InforSim is recognized as an expert in developing system simulations and provides specialized consulting services to other companies for a wide range of applications, from ocean-related systems to aerospace systems. We have designed simulation strategies, developed software architectures, and provided detailed component models and computational utilities.

The company has developed various types of simulation models for ocean-related applications, including:
      • simulation of buoy and mooring dynamics, torpedo launches, and ocean
        water intake and discharge flows
      • simulation of ambient ocean bio-chemical perturbations (e.g., plankton,
inorganic nutrients, dissolved oxygen) due to pollutants
      • simulation of fish and mammal population response to man-induced changes
        in their environment (see illustration)
      • simulation of the performance of complex multi-component engineering systems

When developing environmental impact simulations, we have often overlaid optimization strategies to "tune" uncertain model parameters to reflect observations. The tuned simulations can then be used to predict environmental changes under other conditions. We have also incorporated economic considerations in simulations of complex multi-component systems as the basis for optimizing their performance. For example, the Offshore Aquaculture System Investment and Siting (OASIS) Model is being used to determine maximum profits and optimal design and operational parameters for aquaculture farms growing alternative fish species. The Ocean Thermal Energy Conversion Design Optimization and Performance (ODOP) Model has been used to maximize return on investment as a function of site-specific environmental conditions and the OTEC plant design configuration.
